New article on partitioning

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

Hi All -

Just a quick note that I’ve written a follow up article on partitioning that’s in the MySQL Dev Zone article section for you to check out.  It shows how well defined segments of data can be easily managed and removed with partitioning.  Check it out if you get time and let me know how you’re using partitioning in MySQL 5.1 now!

Thanks,

New article on CSV engine

Friday, May 5th, 2006

All -

I’ve been playing with the CSV engine in MySQL 5.1 and have recorded some thoughts in a new article out on our dev zone. Check it out if you’ve wondered why we added the engine to MySQL and what it’s good for.

Oh, and one bug that I forgot to include in my paper, but that should be fixed in the next beta release, is that the CSV engine is not enabled on the MS Windows platform.

5.1 Beta2 available

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

Hey all -

Some of you have already begun using the new Beta2, but many haven’t so I thought I’d remind you to download the new 5.1 Beta2 and give it a whirl. I’ve been playing with the CSV engine (which first came out in 5.0 in limited form, but is now fully ready for action in 5.1), recently and will be posting a new article to the MySQL Dev Zone soon on all the fun you can have with it.

Great seeing everyone at the recent User’s Conference!

Robin

P.S. Beta2 of 5.1 started with 5.1.9…
